10 Percent Off Tapas on Tuesdays!

A short walk up New Scotland Avenue from The Sage College of Albany campus is the Midtown Tap & Tea room, serving small plates, sandwiches, salads and an extensive wine list.

We sat in the bar area which was cozy and comfortable with a fireplace on Saturday night, and shared chorizo braised in red wine; shimp and crab cakes; and sea scallops on a bed of couscous.

I recommend checking it out, especially on a Tuesday: a note on the bottom of our menu said that faculty, staff and students with an ID from any of the University Heights schools will receive 10 percent off their food order on Tuesdays!

Jewelry, pottery, painting, T-Shirts, incense and oils, soaps and textiles – it’s one of those fun shops you can get lost in. (A nice little mini-escape if you need one.) After chatting with one of the owners I learned that 3 of his 4 daughters are Sage alums… I have only been with Sage for five months and since I started, it seems I meet Sage alums everywhere I go – maybe Sage has it’s own “Twilight Zone”?
