I’ve begun work on a topic of interest of mine regarding musical theatre. Here’s a quick overview of the paper.
Musicals have a very distinct style of writing. Each composer has a different way of going about writing the music. I’m interested in if there are any similarities between the composers. I will be looking at Rodgers and Hammerstein, Steven Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Weber, Jason Robert Brown and Steven Schwartz. I want to see if there is a typical harmonic trend in musical theatre and if there is I would like to figure out what it is and how it affects music.
That’s the basic idea of it…of course it will be better developed as I study it more but for right now its an idea.

Let me begin by breaking down this blog into four main topics.
Topic 1 “Music Help”: This will be for any questions that anyone has about music homework or if they need help studying for a music exam.
Topic 2 “Music Theory”: This will be about music theory, my works and thoughts regarding music theory.
Topic 3 “Compositions and other works”: This will be about my compositions and anything I am working on from a performance stand point.
Topic 4 “Local Performances”: This will be about local performances and my thoughts on any music related lecture and of performances…but these will be purely from a music position.
Also I will (from time to time) post stuff that is going on in my life… Probablly not though. If anyone has any suggestions or anything they would like to talk about just post a comment.
