SA: Eager Students Fall Prey to Apartheid’s Legacy

I wanted to share with you a link to a New York Times article that chronicles the frustrations that many students face within the education system in South Africa.

Joao Silva for The New York Times
In the absence of a teacher, students discussed their work at a high school in Khayelitsha, on the outskirts of Cape Town.

This article was passed on to me by Tim Sun, a fellow participant on the Harvard trip who worked with me in Cape Town.

I found the article to be very accurate in depicting what many of the students who reside in townships (black housing settlements) face when trying to get an education and pass matric (senior year of high school).
