Hello world!
So my first Sage blog… Two weeks until Spring break and so far, I’m doing pretty well for the semester.
My classes this semester go as follows:
Photography I
Watercolor Painting
Type & Design I
Figure Drawing
Digital Imaging II
For the most part, all of my classes have been really good thus far. Figure drawing is my least favorite class. I can draw, however it takes a lot more effort for me than most other creative tasks, which is such a turn off… And, I don’t find drawing (not the classes I have taken/am taking/have to take) creative in any way, which also sours the experience for me.
As far as my favorite class, thats probably a toss up between Photo I and Watercolor Painting. Both are very relaxing. I love taking photos, have, in fact, for several years, but going back to square one, not being able to see what you snapped immediately after, and actually processing and printing the film ourselves is proving to be very awesome!
Watercolor painting is amazing because the you can do so much with it. The possibilities are endless, not to mention, the color is so VIBRANT. I love color and the different ways you can use it to communicate an idea better or provoke a certain emotion with the viewer. There’s something so wonderful about it
Anyway… enough for my first post… I must get to my homework from said classes… People that think being an art student is easy, are wrong. Its time consuming (be prepared to have little to no life) and sometimes hard to draw inspiration out of thin air. I have never been more stressed out than the last several weeks of the art students semester, but I can tell you honestly that I have never loved any stress the way I’ve loved the stress and craziness of being an art student. It just works, for me, and it makes sense. I will take it any day to a stress-free life of a non-artist.
This is just me, it’s who I am. I am an artist.
